Crew Payroll Controller

Israel - Haifa, Greece - Athens, Romania - Constanta

The Crew Payroll Controller is responsible for managing the payroll of seafarers onboard company vessels, as well as handling the Disbursement Accounts (DAs) of manning agents. This role combines payroll, finance, and operational responsibilities, ensuring accurate calculation, control, and processing of crew wages in line with contracts and regulations. It involves working with financial data, coordinating with multiple stakeholders across different countries, and managing payroll processes in a dynamic, global environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO?

  • Checking D/A from Manning agents monthly – verifying the monthly payments with regard to seafarers’ actual days on board and other payments – flights, medicals, transport, etc.
  • Reviewing, budgeting, and approving crew invoices as per the company invoice approval policy
  • Responsible for the monthly payroll cycle:
    • Following and enforcing company policy related to crew payroll approval and payments, ensuring that all payments will be processed on time and without any delay.
    • Monthly portage bill checking
    • Crossing the portage bill entry in the accounting system.
    • Capt.’s monthly cash statement management is on board.
    • Monitoring crew loans and “on leave” payments
    • Monthly crew allotments preparation and processing for further approval, ensuring the process is as per company policy
    • 1st point of contact for vessels for any salary / payment-related issues
    • Monitoring crew sign-off process, working closely with crew coordinators to ensure sign-off dates are updated properly before approving payments
    • Keeping crew personal cards up to date with every unique request/ transaction done / communication with crew members
    • Reviewing, filing, and approving crew travel expenses

WHAT YOU’LL NEED?

  • A certified bookkeeper / Bookkeeping certificate (Level 1+2)
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong Excel skills and high attention to detail
  • High level of English – both written and spoken
  • Ability to work with data, calculations, and financial controls
  • Accurate and proactive.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Experience in the maritime sector is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems is an advantage.
