We are looking for an experienced Electrical Superintendent to join our Technical department and provide expert electrical and electronic engineering support across our fleet.
This is a key role with direct impact on vessel availability, reliability, safety, and long-term asset management. The position involves close collaboration with ship staff, Technical Superintendents, suppliers, and OEMs, combining operational support, project management, and budget responsibility.
WHAT YOU’LL DO?
Operational Excellence:
Technical Authority: Act as the go-to expert for all Electrical and Electronic systems, including HV Generation, Electrical Propulsion, Automation, and Navigation systems.
Maintenance Strategy: Analyze technical data and maintenance reports to identify root causes of failures and implement long-term asset management plans.
Issue Resolution: Lead the technical follow-up and closure of incidents, audit findings, and non-conformances related to electrical failures.
Supply Chain Support: Partner with the procurement team to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of specialized spare parts and technical services.
Projects & Retrofit:
Project Delivery: Manage and deliver fleet-wide technical initiatives, ensuring a seamless handover to ship managers and crew.
Refit Planning: Define the technical scope and budgets for ship refits and dry docks within your area of expertise.
On-site Management: Attend refits in person to manage the execution of electrical work scopes and ensure quality standards.
Safety & Fleet Support:
Onboard Oversight: Visit each vessel regularly (averaging once per year) to monitor system performance and equipment condition.
HESS Leadership: Promote a strong safety culture by reporting near-misses, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring the correct use of safety devices.
Emergency Response: Participate in the fleet’s Emergency Response Team.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED?
Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering
Experience as Electrical Superintendent
Minimum of 5 years sea-going experience in a marine electrical or electro-technical role (ETO)
Strong knowledge of Ship Power Plant and Navigation equipment, SOLAS, Class Rules, and applicable statutory regulations
Proven experience managing and maintaining complex marine electrical systems
Good communication in English
Experience working with commercial fleets
