The Marine Projects & Newbuilding Engineer is a hands-on engineering role within the Technical Department, responsible for leading and executing technical projects across the fleet, with a strong focus on newbuilding activities, vessel retrofits, and energy efficiency improvements.
The role requires solid experience in: New Building Projects, including site supervision and project monitoring, as well as close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered to high technical, safety, and performance standards.
WHAT YOU’LL DO?
Technical Projects & Retrofits
Lead and manage technical and engineering projects across the fleet, including feasibility studies, design reviews, detailed engineering, and plan approval processes
Prepare technical specifications, cost estimations, and support procurement activities
Oversee implementation of retrofit projects, including Energy Saving Devices (ESD) and other efficiency improvement systems
Supervise project execution onboard and/or at shipyards, including site supervision when required
Conduct ship condition surveys and support damage investigations
Coordinate with Class and Flag authorities for approvals and compliance with regulatory requirements
Newbuilding Projects
Participate in newbuilding projects, including specification development, design review, plans approval, and construction processes
Monitor construction progress at shipyards (on-site or remotely), ensuring compliance with company requirements and quality standards, monitor and supervise local site teams
Attend and evaluate sea trials, including performance and system validation
Follow up on guarantee claims with shipyards until vessel delivery and support post-delivery activities in coordination with Technical Superintendents
Decarbonization & Energy Efficiency
Support implementation of energy efficiency initiatives across the fleet, including ESD systems and retrofit solutions
Contribute to the company’s GHG reduction efforts through technical project execution
Monitor relevant environmental requirements and regulations (IMO EU) and support implementation as needed
Stay updated on industry developments and evaluate new technologies, including preparation of technical and financial assessments (ROI)
Performance & Analysis
Support monitoring of vessel performance, including fuel consumption and voyage efficiency
Contribute to performance analysis and optimization initiatives when relevant
Commercial & Cross-Functional Support
Provide technical input for charterers’ inquiries in coordination with the commercial team
Collaborate with internal stakeholders across technical, operations, and commercial departments
Collect and present technical data as required for business needs
WHAT YOU’LL NEED?
Proven experience in the maritime industry in an engineering/technical role
Background as a Marine Engineer or Naval Architect
Hands-on experience with newbuilding projects, including site supervision, site management, or shipyard monitoring
Experience in technical projects, retrofits, and vessel upgrades
Experience with implementation of Energy Saving Devices (ESD) and similar systems
Strong understanding of Class, Flag, and international maritime regulations
High level of English (written and spoken)
Advantage:
